Survivalism and survival is really a state of mind -

--  I am free and healthy and I want this to continue even if the politicians / criminals /
     multinationals / Mother nature / whatever, decide to wreak havoc upon the land.

--  I realize that things _can_ go wrong and
     I am planning and preparing for the possibility of such a scenario.

--  I want to survive anything they throw at me.

--  I am / have been aquiering the skills and equipment needed to survive.

--  I _will_ survive.

--  I will not surrender.
 

It is not ->

--  Guns galore.

--  Lets blow up the government.

--  I love cool equipment.

--  Explosives for beginners.

--  Politics for the obsessive.
 

Survivalists are actively preparing for the possibility of bad things happening.
Survivalists are learning skills they might need to survive post TEOTWAWKI.
Survivalists are looking for and preparing locations to evacuate to in the event of an emergency.
Survivalists are aquireing items they might need to survive.
Survivalists survive - it is the whole point of the exercise.
