My comments :
This book is one of the most important military books
ever published, Von Clausewitz work is among
the most highly respected military books ever
published
On War is the most significant attempt in Western
history to understand war, both in its internal dynamics and as an instrument of
policy. Since the work's first appearance in 1832, it has been read throughout
the world, and has stimulated generations of soldiers, statesmen, and
intellectuals.

Interesting Book
As an Army NCO, I read the
book after reading Sun Tzu as "On War" was
referenced in the
translation I happened to read. It was very interesting to see where
the
foundation of many terms and concepts came from. Although the book is
not
current, it does provide an insight into some modern ways of thinking.
Excellent
reading for anyone interested in military or
political thought.

My comment :
This
book is probably the most read book on warfare and guerilla tactics ever.
Sun Tzu explains in simple terms the how's and why's of war-time tactics
and strategies.
I have a copy of this book and have probably read it ten
times over the past years, a must read for anyone studying guerilla warfare and
general war-time tactics, one of the best books ever written in
my opinion.
A very simplified example from the
book :
You should
always leave the enemy a way out, as no enemy is more dangerous than when he's
trapped in a corner, where he will fight to death.

Highly reccomended - tho many disagree with me on the tactical skills of Che Guevara, there is no getting past the fact that this book has been used and studied by guerilla movements around the world since it was first published.
I for one believe that Che was a highly accomplished tactician and a poor strategist, the difference between the two terms is huge tho, as tactics win the battle and strategies win the wars. A survivalist is not supposed to fight wars. Furthermore, a survivalist is supposed to harass his enemy using guerilla tactics if the need arises. Another plus is that it is likely that your enemy has studied this book - and knowing your enemy is all important - know his way of thinking - who has influenced his thinking and so forth.
